Yep...this is pretty much how it happens. During the scene in Fire Emblem 9 where Ike takes official control of the Crimean Army and becomes a Lord, he gets a new outfit...there's no gap in the events or anything, so as I understand it, he just changes his clothes in front of everyone, including the Crimean royal family.
